| MISSIONSTATEMENT |
The Poisonous Ladies: Amir Levi Dance has as its purpose the creation and presentation of the artistic work of contemporary choreographer Amir Levi. Furthering this, The Poisonous Ladies emphasize character development through the incorporation of theatrical storytelling with physical expression in order to provide personal and emotional resonance for both the dancers and the audience. The Poisonous Ladies is further committed to exposing audiences to choreography that explores modern movement ideas and nonlinear progressions through significant emotional content and various degrees of theatricality.
The Poisonous Ladies is fundamentally committed to enriching the New York dance scene by producing fun and accessible, yet satisfying and passionate works of artistic significance through a non-competitive and communal environment.
In addition to Levi as the Artistic Director/Choreographer, The Poisonous Ladies currently consists of a company manager and several committed dancers. Hand selected by Levi and his manager, the dancers "help with my process of creating a non-competitive environment, as well as a supportive and nurturing one for dancers/actors/performers". This sense of a familial community is an integral part of the success of the company. Dancers not only work with each other one-on-one to rehearse movement phrases, but offer insight and inspiration to Levi's choreographic process.
